| Personal CV: | Aalok is an entertainment and intellectual property lawyer as well as a social entrepreneur, with a career spanning over 16 years, in multiple jurisdictions including India, New York, London, Dubai and Philippines. Aalok has successfully spearheaded multiple complex portfolios of work scattered across various fields of law and multiple facets of established and emerging new media. As an emerging leader in the field of law, Aalok has independently advised and negotiated on a plethora of production deals, distribution deals and licensing deals for numerous film production houses, studios, distribution companies, talent management agencies, independent talent and is a strong believer of standing up for the David(s) against the Goliath(s) of this world. Aalok was also included in the list of "Top 50 IP Lawyers" for the year 2019 by The Conference Gorilla. Aalok has had extensive experience embracing legal consultation in Intellectual Property, Information Technology, Data Protection and Entertainment laws. He has vast experience in negotiating a wide variety of contract types and has a very sound corporate laws practice as well. Aalok has advised in complex deals involving national and multi-national companies including his NYSE listed clients on various corporate law issues as well. Along with a successful legal career, Aalok continues to follow his passion for humanitarian work and entrepreneurship. Aalok has a passion for music, films and production and being a musician himself, assists upcoming musicians from various genres of music, artists, established sports persons and film producers in deal structures and negotiates their contracts. Aalok also acts as Director for Giri Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which works towards building jobs for women from the hills in India. He has recently joined the Board of Advisors for Sisyphus Rocks Films and WRI and has been advising them on various social cause projects and films and has negotiated various digital distribution deals with various OTT platforms on their behalf. Aalok has recently also been appointed as an arbitrator through ICA (Indian Council of Arbitrators) for WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) Aalok holds a LLM degree in Entertainment Laws from Cardozo School of Law, New York and has also worked in New York with an only Music law firm and has also successfully completed Comparative Media Laws and Policy from University of Oxford. Aalok has been invited by various universities and organisations such as the Indian Law Institute and other renowned Universities as a legal expert for delivering guest lectures on Intellectual Property Rights, Cyber laws and Entertainment Laws. |
