The IAEL Update Seminar - Web 2.0 and Beyond in 2007, Auditorium A, Level 3
Each year we invite IAEL experts from around the world to report on legal developments which have had significant commercial impact on the music industry and other entertainment sectors.
This year we focus first on Web 2.0 and next generation digital media. User generated content and community sites have had a huge impact this year and like P2P before them they've thrown up a range of issues regarding rights and liabilities. We'll also be touching on developments in collective licensing and the clearance of rights for the latest methods of content delivery such as mobile TV and VOD.
We will provide a round-up of other key cases and concerns that everyone should be aware of in 2007 - including an update on European Commission and EU developments.

The IAEL Masterclass - Getting In Synch, Auditorium K, Level 4
After the success of last year's event the IAEL is proud to present another Masterclass. Focusing in on one key topic, this session once again provides a forum for more detailed discussion and review.
Today's entertainment industry demands that record labels and recording artists find new and alternative ways to promote themselves and generate revenue. Placing music within video games, films or television (known in the business as "synchronization") is one of the hottest outlets available to generate a profitable image for artists and labels - and serve the marketing purposes of others. How is this done? The expert speakers at this IAEL Masterclass will run through the main legal and commercial points for negotiation in the business of synch licensing. The session is intended as a companion to the IAEL Music and Images Workshop which gives a wider review of issues of music and images.
